Exporters return to pre-Brexit delivery times

The Southampton site on Europa Road is back to delivering according to pre-Brexit schedules, four years after Britain left the EU.

The prospect is celebrating its tenth anniversary and represents a significant improvement for south coast exporters facing post-Brexit challenges.

Toton Branch Manager John Moy has been at the helm for ten years and has kept a close eye on shifts in the market landscape.

The Southampton operation of road freight haulier Europa Road, part of the UK’s largest independent operator, Europa Worldwide Group, facilitates the movement of a wide range of goods exported across the south coast.

Mr Moy said: “It remains a challenging time for exporters in general, but we recognise that exporting offers many opportunities for businesses to grow. We are therefore pleased that we have invested in our infrastructure, which has resulted in shorter delivery times for our customers, returning us to the pre-Brexit era.”

The team consists of 18 employees, spread across two locations in the city known as the Gateway to the World, thanks to its many ports, airports and emerging sectors such as technology and life sciences.

In addition to transporting unusual, ugly cargo, their repertoire also includes regular goods such as toys and niche items for the interior and furniture industry.

They also import for specialized customers, for example from France, Spain and Italy. This sector is growing by 10 percent annually.

The branch delivers a staggering 400,000 consignments through its Europa Flow service, which was developed following a £5m investment in technology and infrastructure.

The service facilitates exports to the EU under DDP terms, simplifying customs processes.

This means that importers do not need customs agents and do not have to worry about import declarations or import duties.

According to current timetables, the transit time to Hungary is 4.1 days, to Italy 3.9 days, to Denmark 3.5 days and to Germany only 3.1 days.

This guarantee on all European freight options is essential to the company’s commitment to providing reliable services.

Adrian Redmile, Branch and Sales Director at Europa Worldwide Group, said: “Over the past 10 years, John and the team at Southampton have supported customers with excellent service, even during difficult times.

“We are very pleased to be able to offer pre-Brexit delivery times again, regardless of the goods shipped.”
