Buses in Telford are being diverted as the road in the city centre is closed for three weeks

A road in Oakengates will be closed for approximately three weeks due to motorway works.

Station Road, for approximately 400 metres including the junction with Roundabout Station, will be closed to traffic from Monday 22nd July. The closure will last 24 hours a day and is expected to reopen on 11th August.

A 2.7 kilometre diversion will be put in place, with traffic routed via Greyhound Roundabout, Holyhead Road, Hartshill, Bridge Street and Lion Street.

As a result of the closure, buses in the area are also being diverted.

An Arriva spokesman said: “From Monday 22 July until Sunday 11 August inclusive, Station Road (Oakengates) will be closed. Services 4, 5, 5a, 5e, 6, 99a and 99c will be diverted.

“Journeys from Telford Bus Station will be diverted via B5061 Holyhead Road, Charlton Street, Hartshill, Bridge Street, Lion Street and then rejoin the normal route at Uxacona Way.

“Journeys to Telford Bus Station are being diverted via Lion Street, Bridge Street, Hartshill, Charlton Street, B5061 Holyhead Road, resuming normal route from Greyhound Island.”
