After distributing CNG at pumps, the Mines and Petroleum Department is now focusing on laying the domestic gas pipeline. The CGD institutions supplying CNG in the state have been given a target to provide one lakh domestic connections in 8 cities including Jaipur in the coming financial year.

The pipeline will be laid in Jaipur, Kota, Alwar, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Bundi, Ajmer and Pali. A 2000 km long gas pipeline will be laid in the state. There are 13 organisations working on CGD work in different areas of the state.

Billing will also be easy

There is always a concern to book a gas cylinder. Moreover, there is also a weight concern, what if the delivery person gives less gas than the actual quantity. If the person is alone, it becomes even more of a problem to keep waiting for the delivery person. These problems do not arise in pipeline connections.

Difference between LPG and Pipeline Gas (PNG)

The difference between the gas that comes to homes through the pipeline, PNG, and the gas in bottles, LPG.

LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) – It is filled in the cylinder in the form of water. This gas is heavy. Its cost is higher than PNG and CNG and it requires a cylinder.

Pipeline gas (PNG) – It is 30 percent cheaper than LPG. No cylinder is needed. It contains mainly methane gas.

  • PNG is easy to use.
  • Gas is available 24 hours a day.
  • There is postpaid billing, which means that no advance payment for gas has to be made. Billing takes place once every two months.
  • PNG gas is environmentally friendly. It reduces the emission of harmful gases to the environment, such as carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2).

On this basis connections are released

  • While the pipeline is being laid, the survey team will reach the houses. People will have the consent form filled.
  • Based on this, connections are released.
  • The registration forms are completed by the company or hub organization in that city.
  • This information will be made public.

According to Rajasthan State Gas Limited (RSGL), propane gas is used in LPG, which is heavier than air, accumulates at the bottom and spreads. In case of fire, it is terrible. Whereas PNG is used in the pipeline. It contains methane, which is lighter than air. In case of leakage, it flies upwards. The risk of accident is less.
