IndiGo addresses situation after outage

IndiGo is currently experiencing delays and cancellations due to global outages affecting its cloud server software and provider. This outage, which began on July 19, 2024, has severely disrupted airline operations and has affected critical systems used for flight operations, passenger check-in and baggage handling. Airlines, airports and other transportation systems worldwide are facing similar issues.

In response, IndiGo teams have quickly pivoted to manual and backup systems, keeping operations under control at major Indian airports including Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore despite widespread disruptions. IndiGo has activated ‘war rooms’ at four metro airports to manage operations, with the airline’s staff prioritising passengers with departures in the next 120 minutes to ensure flights operate with minimal delays.

Additional measures have been put in place to effectively manage the situation. Customers on cancelled flights are advised not to go to the airports and will be offered alternative arrangements where possible.

IndiGo is closely monitoring the situation and any further decisions regarding flight operations will be based on updates from the cloud service provider. A dedicated team is addressing these technical challenges to minimize disruptions. IndiGo is committed to ensuring the safety and comfort of its customers and is doing everything possible to resolve the issue with the highest priority and urgency.
