PM orders to accelerate construction work of Islamabad IT Park

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that construction work for the country’s first state-of-the-art Islamabad IT Park has been accelerated to ensure its completion by 2024.

During his visit to the under-construction IT Park in Islamabad on Saturday, the Prime Minister said work on the project was continuing day and night.

The prime minister said the IT Park will be completed at a cost of Rs 25 billion, with a soft loan of $70 million from South Korea. He recalled that the project was awarded to the Korean company in 2022.

Expressing satisfaction over the quality of construction, the Prime Minister said the IT Park will house 120 offices of IT-enabled Companies and provide employment to 10,000 youths. He said the facility will also house an Incubation Centre, 15 Startups, besides commercial and recreational facilities.

Shahbaz Sharif that the IT Park will have close coordination and links with the academic world. He said that an important part of the park is the construction of IT Labs that will promote research and development activities within our youth.

The Prime Minister said the facility will also result in the establishment of 250 E-Rozgaar Centers across the country. He said the level three data center is also being built in the IT Park.

The Prime Minister said that more IT parks will be set up at the federal and provincial levels and millions of youth will benefit from this. He mentioned that Rs 80 billion has been earmarked in the budget for the IT sector.

During his visit, the Prime Minister was extensively informed about the progress of the construction work.

It was reported that the IT Park will be built on a 14.9-hectare site.
