Chief Secretary reviews progress of NCAP implementation in Jammu and Srinagar cities

Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo today chaired the meeting of the UT-level Apex Committee at the civic secretariat to review the progress of implementation of National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) in the twin cities of Jammu and Srinagar.

The meeting was attended by ACS Forests, Commissioner Secretary, Housing and Urban Development, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, PCCF J&K, Secretary Health and Medical Education, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Commissioners of JMC and SMC and other concerned officials.

During the meeting, the Chief Secretary called upon all stakeholders concerned to ensure strict implementation of mitigation measures for prevention, control and reduction of air pollution. He called upon them to work sincerely so that all targets are achieved well in time.

The Chief Secretary stressed the importance of NCAP in addressing air pollution problems, especially in urban areas, emphasising the need for concerted efforts by all concerned departments and stakeholders to achieve the desired results of the programme.

He also asked for the implementation status of pollution control measures, improvement of surveillance infrastructure, enforcement of emission standards for industry and vehicles, promotion of cleaner technologies and awareness campaigns.

The Chief Secretary stressed the importance of strict adherence to timelines and quality standards to achieve the desired results of NCAP.

The Chief Secretary also delved into each project of both the capitals during the meeting and had a detailed analysis of all expenditure so far. He stressed that tireless efforts should be made to complete all the pending works. He also directed the concerned stakeholders to accelerate the pace of tendering and other preliminary processes of remaining works under this programme.

During the meeting, the PCCF informed the attendees through a presentation on the progress made so far in the implementation of this programme in the cities of Jammu and Srinagar.
