Farmers’ meeting highlights agricultural innovation in district

DDC promotes integrated farming and entrepreneurship at progressive farmers’ meeting

Progressive farmers from the district came together to share experiences and learn new farming techniques.

JAMSHEDPUR – A gathering of progressive farmers, organised at the Collectorate Auditorium, brought together agricultural innovators to share successful practices and inspire fellow farmers.

Deputy Development Commissioner Manish Kumar chaired the meeting and emphasised the agricultural potential of the district and the importance of scientific farming methods.

“Our state provides farmers with the opportunity to learn advanced techniques. We even send them to Israel for training,” Kumar said at the meeting.

The DDC stressed the need to look beyond traditional farming practices and promote integrated farming systems, including livestock and fisheries.

PD ITDA Dipankar Chaudhary stressed the crucial role of farmers in the development of society and urged them to explore value-added agriculture.

“Government schemes for irrigation, seed distribution and financial support are available. Farmers should be made aware of these benefits,” Chaudhary advised.

NEP Director Ajay Saav stressed the importance of various departmental programmes to strengthen the rural economy and encourage farmers to proactively utilise these resources.

During the meeting, successful practices in mushroom cultivation, floriculture and vegetable cultivation were highlighted. Outstanding growers were put in the spotlight by officials.

Those present were informed about initiatives in the field of livestock farming, pond construction, crop protection programs and mixed fish farms, among other things.

Dr. Kumar Surendra, District Animal Husbandry Officer, and Toppo Asha, District Cooperative Officer, were among the key officials present at the event.

More than 150 progressive farmers from various districts participated, representing the agricultural diversity of the district.

The meeting concluded with a call to farmers to take advantage of government programs and embrace integrated farming methods to improve the economy.

Organised on the instructions of District Magistrate Ananya Mittal, the event aimed to create a platform for knowledge sharing and inspiration within the farming community of the district.
