CS assesses progress of NCAP implementation in cities of Jammu and Srinagar – Statetimes

SRINAGAR: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo on Saturday chaired the UT-level Apex Committee meeting at the Civil Secretariat to review the progress made in implementation of National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) in the twin cities of Jammu and Srinagar.
The meeting was attended by ACS Forests, Commissioner Secretary, Housing and Urban Development, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, PCCF J&K, Secretary Health and Medical Education, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Commissioners of JMC and SMC and other concerned officials.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary called upon all stakeholders concerned to ensure strict implementation of mitigation measures for prevention, control and reduction of air pollution. He urged them to cooperate sincerely so that all targets are achieved well in time. The Chief Secretary stressed the importance of NCAP in addressing air pollution challenges, particularly in urban areas, and emphasised the need for concerted efforts of all departments and stakeholders concerned to achieve the desired outcomes of the programme. He also asked for the status of implementation of pollution control measures, expansion of monitoring infrastructure, enforcement of emission norms for industries and vehicles, promotion of cleaner technologies and awareness campaigns.
The Chief Secretary stressed the importance of strict adherence to timelines and quality standards to achieve the desired results of NCAP.
The Chief Secretary also delved into each project of both the capitals during the meeting and had a detailed analysis of all expenditure so far. He stressed that tireless efforts should be made to complete all the pending works. He also directed the concerned stakeholders to accelerate the pace of tendering and other preliminary processes of remaining works under this programme.
During the meeting, the PCCF informed the attendees through a presentation on the progress made so far in the implementation of this programme in the cities of Jammu and Srinagar.
