Dangote refinery paid $100m for land, got no incentive from government – Aliko

Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, on Saturday said he received no incentive from the Nigerian government to build his $20 billion refinery in the Lekki Free Trade Zone.

Dangote made this announcement when he took charge of the House of Representatives, led by the Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, and his deputy, Benjamin Kalu.

“At the refinery, we have not, and I repeat, we have not received any incentive from the Federal Government of Nigeria or even Lagos State.

“Yes, Lagos State gave us a good deal but we paid $100 million for the land. It was not free land; we paid for it,” he said.

“The majority of the population is behind us. So we are not discouraged, we continue with what we are doing.”

Dangote also called on the House of Representatives to investigate the quality of diesel and petrol at filling stations, denying claims that the petroleum products from his refinery are of substandard quality.

Dangote also urged the House to set up a committee that would test products at various filling stations across the country. He criticized the damage that inferior products cause to vehicles and engines.
