District Gazetteer Kanpur: Groups prepare district gazetteer in Kanpur | Kanpur News

Kanpur: In a bid to compile the history and cultural heritage of Kanpur, District Magistrate Rakesh Kumar Singh in a meeting held here on Saturday directed the Chief Development Officer to form groups for preparing the district gazetteer. The DM stressed that these groups should include people like senior citizens, literary figures, artists, economists, entrepreneurs, businessmen and voluntary organisations from the district. The aim of the exercise is to utilise the collective knowledge and expertise of these individuals for preparing comprehensive outlines for the gazetteer. The meeting, which was part of the district-level gazetteer initiative, focused on strategies and frameworks for documenting the rich cultural, historical and economic landscape of the district. The DM stressed the importance of the initiative for preserving and promoting the heritage of the district for future generations. The last gazetteer was prepared in 1984.
