NIZAMABAD/KAMAREDDY: Due to incessant rains over the last 24 hours, several tanks and streams in the district have overflowed. Water stagnation has occurred at several places in towns and villages, making it difficult for commuters to travel.

In Nizamabad city, water stagnation has been reported in several areas, including the recently merged areas. Nizamabad Municipal Corporation (NMC) Commissioner M Makarandu has formed special teams in each zone, comprising engineering, sanitation and town planning officers. Deputy commissioners have also been appointed as special officers for each division.

The teams are equipped with sufficient equipment and JCBs to purify the stagnant water. Speaking to TNINMC Deputy Commissioner G Rajendra Kumar said, “So far, no problems have arisen in any of the six zones within the NMC limits. Steps have been taken to address water-related challenges.”

Teams are responding to complaints and clearing water from various places, especially in open plots and newly developed areas where stagnant water has been observed, Kumar added.

In other parts of the district, the Kappala river overflowed in Bheemgal mandal, causing damage to the road near the Tahsildar office.

Ambem village in Yedapally mandal also faced flooding, while Belal tank in Bodhan overflowed and local streams in Rudrur mandal burst their banks.
