More than 10 flights affected after ‘technical issue’ at Inverness Airport | News

Highlands and Islands Airports have apologised for the inconvenience

Chaos reigns at a Highlands airport after a “technical problem” with air traffic control equipment caused several flights to be cancelled or delayed.

Flights to Amsterdam, Heathrow and Gatwick have been delayed, while flights to Stornoway, Sumburgh and Bristol have been cancelled.

Flights from Stornoway and Sumburgh have been cancelled, while flights from Amsterdam, Sumburgh and Luton are delayed.

We understand that the problem is not related to fire.

Highlands and Airports Ltd (HIAL), the company that manages Inverness Airport, has apologised for the inconvenience.

A HIAL spokesman said: “Due to a technical issue with air traffic control equipment, flights at Inverness Airport have been delayed.

“We apologize for the inconvenience & advise passengers to contact the airline for updates.”
