Thiruvaarur (Tamil Nadu) (India), July 22 (ANI): A special pooja was held today at the family temple in Kamala Harris’ ancestral village of Thulasendrapuram in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruvarur district to seek her blessings for her upcoming presidential election bid in the United States.
After Joe Biden withdrew from the US presidential election, he supported Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate.
Thulasendrapuram has become enthusiastic again after Kamala Harris’ name was announced as the presidential candidate for the US elections.
The Shri Dharmasastha temple in the village has a unique wall engraved in Tamil with the names of people who have contributed to the temple, including 2025 Democratic presidential candidate Harris.
Speaking to the media, the villagers said they are proud of Kamala Harris and are praying for her during the US presidential election.
A woman who came to pray at the temple in Thulasendrapuram while speaking to ANI said, “We are so happy that she is nominated. And we support Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. We wish her all the best and much success. We wish her victory.”

Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris moved quickly to drum up support for her White House bid shortly after President Joe Biden announced he would not seek re-election, The Hill reported.

On Sunday, Harris met with key figures on Capitol Hill, including Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, Rep. Nanette Barragan (D-Calif.) of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and Rep. Ann McLane Kuster (D-N.H.) of the New Democrat Coalition, all of whom have already endorsed her candidacy.
Harris also connected with Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Wis.), who enthusiastically shared on the social media platform X: “She is ready to win Wisconsin!!!”
In response to Biden’s endorsement, Harris expressed his gratitude, saying in a released statement, “I am honored to have the President’s support and it is my intention to earn and win this nomination.”
Sources familiar with Harris’ plans indicate that she will maintain an aggressive travel schedule, in line with her recent campaign efforts. Major Democratic PACs including the AAPI Victory Fund, the Collective PAC and the Latino Victory Fund also endorsed Harris on Sunday, signaling a broader coalition of support. The Biden campaign infrastructure is quickly shifting to support Harris’ efforts. (ANI)
