District Four Emergency Rental Assistance Pilot (ERAP) program

District Four Emergency rental Assistance Pilot (ERAP) Program has been relaunched and applications are now accepted. The ERAP program is a preventive measure to break the cycle of homelessness by helping families who are on the verge of losing their rental housing.

Key Features of the ERAP program include short-term rental assistance for eligible residents for up to 3 months, along with case management services provided by a community organization, the Friendly Center. Funding is limited and will are being divided on a first come, first served basis.

To apply for the ERAP programPlease:

  • Visit friendlycenter.org/erap or
  • Call the Friendly Center Rental Assistance Hotline at (714) 769-8777. A live operator is available Mondays from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

To qualify for the ERAP programApplicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Live in the Fourth Districtincluded the cities of Brea, Buena Park, Fullerton, La Habra, Placentia, Stanton, parts of Anaheim, and unincorporated areas in the Fourth District.
  • You run the risk of losing your home because you do not pay the rent.
  • To be a low-income household according to the guidelines of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
  • Are you experiencing a sudden change in your income due to any of the following circumstances: sudden medical emergency, loss of your job, loss of a spouse/family member on the lease or being homeless, but still having sufficient income.
  • Make sure you stay involved in the Friendly Center case management.
  • Submit documentation including:
    • Completed and signed W-9 form from your landlord.
    • Rental Agreement/Contract with signatures.
    • Letter with food stamp/CalWORKS award.
    • Unemployment benefit pay slip.
    • Award letter from SSI/SSA.
    • Letter regarding the award of child/spousal support.
    • Letter of approval for financial assistance.

In addition, the Friendly Center will collect survey data from ERAP program Attendees three months, six monthsand one year after completion of the program.
