Great success for local town Tipperary in Fleadh Cheoil na Mumhan

Templemore and the surrounding area enjoyed great success last week at the Fleadh Cheoil na Mumhan in Thurles.

Killea, Clonmore and Loughmore were all represented in a variety of acts.

Burke brothers Katie, Sean and Aoibhe all won medals in the Sean Nós dancing for Cill Shleibhe, while section member Abby Manton also qualified for the All-Ireland in Wexford with the Moyne Marching Band.

Muireann Meade came first in the U-18 Tin Whistle, Slow Airs, for Loughmore CCE with Jennifer Sargeant on fiddle and Joseph Boyle on flute and flute, who also qualified for Wexford.

In Clonmore 14 teams competed in various competitions, with ladies’ and mixed teams in almost every age category.

They won gold in both the four-handed mixed céilí (ages 12-15) and the eight-handed mixed céilí (ages 15-18), while finishing second in the mixed set O-35.
