DSEK orders change of school hours from 8am to 1pm

aDue to hot weather conditions, the Education Department on Tuesday decided to change the school timings for all classes from 8 am to 1 pm in both rural and urban areas of Kashmir region.

The Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) said in an order that several requests have been received from parents and other
stakeholders regarding the change in school hours for students due to the ongoing heat wave

According to the weather forecast, the conditions are the same
This is expected to continue in the coming days.

“Now, in view of the above and taking into account the requests of parents and various stakeholders as well as the weather forecast, the school work in all government and recognized private schools up to the higher secondary level in the Kashmir division shall commence from 8.00 am to 1.00 pm both in rural and urban areas,” it said.

DSEK further clarified that teaching and non-teaching staff must perform their duties from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. “This arrangement will be in effect until August 10, 2024.
