The charity Wolverhampton Wanderers is organising extra football training sessions throughout the summer.

Wolves Foundation’s Kicks in the Park encourages children to get involved in football, with weekly sessions already running in Aldersley, All Saints and Bilston College.

During the school holidays, extra opportunities are added in Heath Town Park, West Park, Bantock Park, Phoenix Park, Hickman Park and East Park.

“As we have been out and about organising activities in the local community, we have seen how busy these parks can get and hopefully the Kicks sessions will prove popular,” said Pippa Jukes, senior community and cohesion officer at the Wolves Foundation.

The activities will take place from 1pm to 3pm (BST) for children aged eight to 18 and are completely free of charge, the charity said.

“We are really looking forward to hosting Kicks in the Park again and providing football activities for young people from across the city to enjoy during the summer holidays,” added Ms Jukes.

“This year, in addition to returning to previous years’ locations of Heath Town Park, West Park and Bantock Park, we have also decided to add three new locations, spread across the weeks.

“It’s always important for us as a foundation to make sure we engage youth across the city. By adding Phoenix Park, Hickman Park and East Park, we can attract even more youth.”

The programme is funded by the Premier League Charitable Fund and will include additional workshops and the chance for children to try out other activities.
