Mecklenburg-Vorpommern – 500 violations of National Park rules quickly dealt with

In the three national parks in Mecklenburg-Vorpommernnearly 500 violations of the rules were dealt with last year. These were mainly drivers who spontaneously parked their cars on the side of the road, the NDR reports.

In the Müritz National Park alone, there were reportedly 243 such violation reports out of a total of 274 registered violations. In the Jasmund and Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Parks, the NDR investigation revealed 194 and 219 violations of park regulations respectively in the past year.

The National Park rangers found mopeds and quads to be particularly annoying in the eyes of the Müritz National Park, because they disturbed the animals with noise and exhaust fumes and often damaged the forest paths. Last year, eight such cases were reported to the NDR. Anyone caught barbecuing or at a campfire was fined up to 10,000 euros. Last year, four such incidents occurred in the Müritz National Park.

The Müritz National Park, located in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, is known for its strict enforcement of nature conservation rules, as evidenced by the 243 violation notices issued last year. Schwerin, which is part of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, also has a national park where violations were reported to the NDR. In fact, the NDR aired a story about a moped and quad bike disturbance in the Müritz National Park, highlighting eight cases where such vehicles caused damage to nature and the environment.
