2 Plainview Police Officers Promoted

The Plainview Police Department recently celebrated a number of promotions within the department.

Gabriel Carrillo was promoted to captain and Christopher Abalos to patrol lieutenant.

The couple were celebrated Friday at a special ceremony at City Hall. Both are longtime members of the Plainview Police Department.

Capt. Carrillo has served the department in various capacities since 2012. He has served as a patrol officer, field training officer, patrol corporal, patrol sergeant, detective, and patrol and tactical team lieutenant. In his new role, Carrillo will be responsible for managing the department’s accreditation, recruiting, hiring, internal affairs, training, emergency management, property and evidence, police records, and telecommunications, according to a news release about the promotion from the city of Plainview. He will supervise two sworn officers, two administrative assistants, and six telecommunications assistants.

Lieutenant Abalos, who has been with the department since 2015, has served as a patrol officer, field training officer, patrol corporal and patrol sergeant. In his new role, Abalos will be responsible for leading a team of 21 officers, whose responsibilities include responding to 9-1-1 calls and traffic complaints.

During their special ceremony on Friday, the two were presented with pins, which were placed on their uniforms by their wives. Jessica Abalos placed the pin on her husband and Criselda Carrillo placed the pin on the new captain.
