Alaa Ghnimat, 38, was a husband and father of 3, family said

DUPAGE COUNTY, Ill. (WLS) — A husband and father of three was found shot to death in the driveway of a western suburban home Monday night, family and police said Tuesday.

Alaa Ghnimat, 38, of Lombard Township, was found dead near 16th Street and Meyers Road around 9:30 p.m.

DuPage County sheriff’s deputies found him unresponsive and with a gunshot wound in a vehicle in the driveway of his home after responding to reports of a shooting in the area.

The coroner also arrived on the scene and the vehicle was towed away for further examination.

According to the family, Ghnimat was a mechanic and had been living in the house for two years.

He moved to the Chicago area from Palestine 18 years ago.

It is not immediately clear what preceded the shooting.
