New Delhi: Delhi received heavy rainfall on Wednesday morning, which lashed several parts of the city. Similar weather conditions were witnessed on Monday as well when heavy rains lashed several areas of the national capital.

In June, Delhi recorded its highest rainfall in 88 years. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that Delhi received 228 mm of rain from 8:30 am on June 27 to 8:30 am on June 28. This marked the highest rainfall in a single day in June since 1936, totaling 235.5 mm.

The heavy rains have led to a rise in the water level of the Yamuna river. Authorities have issued warnings to residents of villages in Noida along the banks of the river. These areas suffered severe flooding during the monsoon last year, causing inconvenience to residents of both Delhi and Noida.

Earlier, on July 21, the IMD had issued an orange alert for several districts in Himachal Pradesh, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall for the coming week. The weather department had also predicted light to moderate rainfall with thundershowers and lightning in several districts of the state.
