A faulty engine part is being blamed for a private plane crash in Yorktown last year, according to a report from the National Transportation Safety Board. The pilot was flying a single-engine Cessna from Westchester County Airport to Orange County Airport when he lost power while climbing to cruising altitude, the report said. The Tuckahoe resident attempted to fly back to Westchester but instead made a hard landing at Shrub Oak International School. The pilot suffered minor injuries.
