RocketRez | Partners with Chicago Line Cruises

RocketRez, the end-to-end cloud ticketing platform for tours and attractionshas shared details about its partnership with Chicago Line Cruises, a family-owned company that has been operating river architecture cruises on the Chicago River for more than four decades.

Chicago Line Cruises is a popular tourist attraction that offers 90-minute architectural tours, special events, and charters. During the peak season from St. Patrick’s Day to Thanksgiving, the company relies on efficient ticketing operations to handle large numbers of passengers. With this project, it sought to modernize its operations by integrating RocketRez into its ticketing system.

User-friendly technology

Chicago Line Cruising had an old ticketing system that was difficult and slow to use. This made it difficult to train seasonal employees, caused bottlenecks during peak times, and lacked modern features like mobile ticketing. Together, these issues hindered productivity and negatively impacted the customer experience.

Reilly Johnsonhead of ticketing at Chicago Line Cruises, says: “Before we integrated RocketRez, we had a ticketing system that was pretty old and pretty slow. It was very hard to learn and hard to teach.

“The primary source of staff and people working at the ticket window are people who are here just for the summer, like high school and college students. So to teach someone how to use this previous ticketing system would take weeks and days, and they would barely have the hang of it by the time they went back to school.”

Chicago Line Cruises selected RocketRez after evaluating the ability of other ticketing platforms to meet its requirements for a modern and resilient solution. The choice was influenced by RocketRez’s user-friendly interface, which makes it easy for new employees to understand and use; its up-to-date features, particularly the ability to send and scan mobile tickets; and the company’s extensive support, which ensured a smooth implementation process.

The rollout was planned methodically and included customized training sessions, step-by-step guidance and ongoing support, and seamless integrations with third-party platforms like TripAdvisor, Viator, and GetYourGuide. Chicago Line Cruises experienced minimal disruption to its operations thanks to this proactive approach.

Improving visitor satisfaction and operational efficiency

Chicago Line Cruises reports numerous benefits from its partnership with RocketRez. Operational efficiency has been improved through the ticket scanning feature, which has streamlined the check-in process, allowing staff to process up to 200 guests in 15 minutes. The overall customer experience has been enhanced through increased service delivery, enabled by mobile ticketing and easy ticket management. Additionally, the team finds the system easy to use, which has reduced training time and operational headaches.

The integrated POS and booking systems have simplified operations and improved efficiency. In addition, the organization can now make more informed decisions thanks to RocketRez’s advanced reporting capabilities, which provide fast and specific data analysis.

“At RocketRez, the simplicity of the system is what we like best and what has been the most beneficial since we switched, just being able to teach someone how to use it and master all the different aspects of booking a ticket and scheduling a ticket and getting people on boats,” Johnson said.

“RocketRez turned out to be really easy to use, it was really easy to teach people how to use it, and their entire team was super helpful and informative and did a fantastic job of walking us through that transition. They also continued to be really helpful when we started using the ticketing system.”

The partnership has had a measurable impact on Chicago Line Cruises, driving revenue growth and reducing time spent on ticketing, allowing staff to focus on the customer experience. With this technology, Chicago Line Cruises can continue to deliver exceptional experiences while remaining competitive in the tourism industry.
