GEORGIA — According to Fortune’s new ranking of the 50 Best Places for Families to Live in Georgia, Suwanee is the best place to settle down forever.

“Striving to preserve the charm of its early days as a farming center, Old Town Suwanee serves as a 140-acre historic district with period homes and storefronts dating back to the 1870s. Main Street is full of character, and the city’s downtown revitalization efforts have earned it accreditation from the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Main Street Program. The city holds an annual festival here, with a different theme each year (including superheroes and the Wild West),” Fortune reports.

Fortune noted Suwanee’s attractive arts scene and diverse community. Additionally, Suwanee’s public schools are “highly rated,” Fortune said.

Fortune said the list reflects the qualities people look for when deciding where to raise their families and retire.

“A great place to live not only supports families in the present, but also serves them in the long run. With a growing number of Americans caring for both children and aging parents, more people want to live where multigenerational families can thrive,” the news outlet said.

Fortune says it analyzed more than 2,000 cities and nearly 200 data categories, including livability, financial health, senior living resources, education and well-being.

The chosen cities, one for each state, are sustainable for both their youngest and oldest residents and include fast-growing suburbs and edge cities that are finding creative ways to improve people’s well-being, Fortune said.
