Iowa Olympian Gives Update on Dating Apps in Olympic Village

The most entertaining part of Paris 2024 is undoubtedly what the Olympians post from the Olympic Village.

My entire FYP this week has been Olympic Village content from the athletes and media crew in Paris this week and I am ready for it. The social scene, the cardboard beds and the overall preparation process of the world’s best athletes to compete on the international stage.

You’d think dating apps like Tinder would be a goldmine in the Olympic Village. World-class athletes? Single? Yes, please.

Emily Delleman, who rows for Team USA, is from Davenport. She did a viral TikTok explaining what Tinder looks like in the Olympic Village these days and it’s definitely not what I expected.

Literal How can there be less than 10 Olympians on an app like Tinder in the Olympic Village?? In our Village tower alone, there are nearly 600 Team USA athletes present.

So far, Emily’s TikTok about the situation has about 90,000 likes and over 1 million views. And I love her callback to Yik Yak. That was such a wonderfully messy app to have, especially in college.

I’ve seen other Olympians just sitting in the common areas of the village trying to find people to flirt with, maybe that works? If these attractive, talented Olympians can’t find love, maybe the rest of us are in trouble.

The Paris 2024 opening ceremony is tonight on NBC and the Games run through August 11.
