Seascape – Sun, music and sea: “Watt und Schlick Festival” starts

Many music performances, lectures and films directly at the Cotton Lake: On the beach of Dangast (district Friesland) the “Watt and Schlick Festival” has started. According to festival speaker Sofie Buchwald many of the expected 6000 visitors and visitors have already arrived and attended the first concerts. “It’s already pretty full.”

The sun came out from behind the clouds just in time. The brass band Moop Mama x Alice from Munich opened the sold-out Open-Air Festival at the Jadebusen with trumpets and trombones.

A total of 75 concerts, lectures and film screenings are on the programme on five stages directly in front of the Wattenmeer World Heritage Site. SundaySaturday night’s headliner is minimal techno duo Kiasmos from Iceland and the Faroe Islands. On Sunday, singer and actress Paula Hartmann will perform.

Discover something new

The “Watt and Schlick Festival” celebrates its tenth anniversary this year. The first edition took place in the summer of 2014. In recent years, the event has been awarded the “Helga!” Award in the category “Best Festival”.

The idea behind the always internationally staffed and varied festival program remains unchanged, says Buchwald. The “Watt and Schlick” offers festival visitors the opportunity to be curious, discover something new and be surprised and inspired by previously unknown artists and artists.

About 270 volunteers are working on the event this year, as the festival speaker said. Without their dedication “with love and passion” the small festival would hardly be possible.
