Louisiana State Rep. Ken Brass arrested and charged with drunken driving, improper lane usage in Ascension Parish, troopers say

Louisiana State Police reported that State Representative Kendricks “Ken” Brass has been arrested and charged with first offense driving under the influence and improper lane usage.

According to a press release from LSP Troop A, shortly after midnight on July 26, an officer observed a 2018 GMC Yukon veering along Highway 44 near Interstate 10 in Ascension Parish.

Police said the 47-year-old Vacherie representative was identified as the driver.

An officer suspected intoxication and administered a series of standardized field tests, the press release said.

Police also said in the release that Brass was arrested and taken to the Gonzales Police Department, where he consented to a chemical breath test and registered a blood-alcohol level higher than the legal limit.

According to the press release, Brass was fingerprinted at the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, District 2, and he was released on a summons.

Brass, elected in 2017, represents District 58 in the state House of Representatives, according to his official website.

The district includes the parishes of Ascension, St. James and St. John the Baptist.
