Nuclear WAP shows ‘safest’ states to buy homes in case of nuclear conflict

Real estate experts have identified the safest places to live in the United States if nuclear war breaks out. This map, compiled using expert advice, shows that rural areas with favorable weather and access to farmland and water are the safest places to live in such a scenario.

The threat of nuclear war has increased recently as Russian President Vladimir Putin brandished his nuclear arsenal following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022. This increase in threatening rhetoric has led many to seek potential safe havens in the event of a nuclear winter resulting from a conflict.

Real estate professionals are reporting a spike in interest from people looking to buy homes in rural areas, which are considered the safest zones to survive a nuclear attack. Their access to farmland, warm climates and water supplies make them ideal places to relocate for those fearful of the threat of nuclear war.

On the other hand, experts advise against living in densely populated areas, where shopping malls, extensive public transportation networks, and large populations make them prime targets in a war scenario. Andrew Ragusa, CEO of REMI Realty on Long Island, explained how your location can increase your chances of survival in a nuclear war.

“In the event of a nuclear war, the location of your home could determine your chances of survival,” Ragusa told The Daily Mail. “What used to be important in buying a home, like a great school district, proximity to shopping and public transportation, has now changed to a warm climate, access to food and access to water.

Ragusa highlighted areas in California, Florida and Texas as the perfect locations to survive a nuclear apocalypse. Given how large these states are, there are large swaths of rural land with access to water and farmland. The weather is warm enough to grow crops.

“If you’re near water, you’re always near food and water that you can take in after it’s desalinated,” Ragusa said. In Ragusa’s expert opinion, homes along the Mississippi would also be wise purchases in the hypothetical scenario of nuclear war.

‘These include Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee and Wisconsin. Agent Editorial Board Chairman Jasen Edwards has pegged the Midwest and Southeast as prime locations to buy real estate if you want to avoid a nuclear apocalypse, promoting their fresh water, farmland and the missile-dodging height of the Rocky Mountains.’

“The height of the Rocky Mountains means that radioactive fallout is spread more quickly, which is further exacerbated by the stronger winds. This can help to minimise the amount of radioactive material that ends up in the area,” he told The Daily Mail.

Edwards is focused on Nebraska, claiming its “geographic location provides protection from nuclear fallout.”
