RADIO DJ Nonhlanhla Buthelezi, better known as Mroza and co-host of the Ukhozi FM morning show, has been nominated for the Entertainment Radio Presenter of the Year award at the 2024 Basadi in Music Awards.

With over two decades of experience, Mroza is a seasoned broadcaster from Gingindlovu in northern KZN. She will be competing for the award alongside renowned presenters such as Lethabo Lejoy of Thobela FM, Lebo Maoela of Lesedi FM, Catherine Mahamo of Opulence Radio and Mpumi Mlambo of Metro FM.

Mroza began her radio career in 2000 at Icora FM, a local radio station in Eshowe, Northern KZN. In 2004, she joined Ukhozi and has since become a prominent voice at Mzansi’s largest radio station.

Her commitment to youth empowerment led her to found Thum’mlilo in 2013, an organization dedicated to skills development, career guidance and scholarships.

“I am passionate about empowering youth. No one should be limited by their background,” she said.

Mroza is not deterred by the competition and sees her nomination as an important achievement.

In 2019, she climbed Kilimanjaro, an experience that inspired her to continue her studies at Regent Business School, where she is pursuing a postgraduate degree in project management.

The awards ceremony will take place on August 10 at the Johannesburg Theatre.
