Persistent rainfall causes flooding in parts of MP

Bhopal, July 27 (SocialNews.XYZ) Persistent moderate to heavy rains caused a flood-like situation in parts of Madhya Pradesh, submerging roads and disrupting train services.

Flooding caused by rains that continued over the past 48 hours forced citizens in rural areas to leave their homes to save their lives.

However, the rains brought relief to the Kharif farmers.

According to the regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhopal, heavy rainfall has occurred in the eastern and western parts of the state in the past 24 hours.

In the eastern part of the state, Raisen district recorded the highest rainfall of 175.4 mm.

Bhopal weather scientists say the monsoon may subside temporarily, but heavy rainfall is expected from July 28.

Heavy rainfall is possible in the north of the state on July 29 and 30.

The IMD has issued an orange alert for Vidisha, Raisen, Harda, Betul, Jabalpur and Balaghat.

Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and 18 other districts are also under the highest warning of heavy rainfall.

Rain fell in about 20 districts on Friday.

In Panna, the Nirankar river washed away a Sports Utility Vehicle. Fortunately, the driver managed to jump out just in time.

On the banks of the Betwa River in Vidisha, temples were submerged and water flowed over a metre over a bridge, cutting off several villages.

Heavy rainfall has been recorded in many districts over the past week and the wet weather is expected to continue for the next two days.

On June 21, the monsoon reached Madhya Pradesh.
