Exemplary leader, dedicated public servant — Senate

The Senate announced the death of the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Ifeanyi Ubah, describing him as “an exemplary leader, a dedicated public servant and a tireless advocate for his constituents.”

The late governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State died in a hospital in London.

The Senate, in a condolence message signed by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Publicity, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, said “his untimely departure represents a significant loss to the Senate, his community and the nation at large.”

The Senate, which recalled Ubah’s contribution to the economy, particularly his investments in the downstream sector through his Capital Oil and Gas Industries Limited, also noted that apart from providing employment to young Nigerians, “his philanthropic efforts provided scholarships, healthcare and essential support to the less privileged, which had a profound impact on countless lives.”

The Senate in a statement expressed its deepest condolences to the family, friends and constituents of Senator Ubah.

The statement read in part: “It is with deep sorrow and regret that the Nigerian Senate announces the passing away of our esteemed colleague, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who until his demise represented the Anambra South Senatorial District.

“Senator Ubah was an exemplary leader, a dedicated public servant and a tireless advocate for his constituents. His untimely departure is a great loss to the Senate, his community and the nation as a whole.

“Prior to his illustrious career in public service, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah distinguished himself as a prominent businessman and philanthropist. As the founder and CEO of Capital Oil and Gas Industries Limited, he made substantial contributions to Nigeria’s energy sector, driving economic growth and creating countless jobs. Through the Ifeanyi Ubah Foundation, his philanthropic efforts provided scholarships, healthcare and essential support to the underprivileged, profoundly impacting countless lives.

“Throughout his tenure in the Senate, Senator Ubah demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the progress and development of Anambra South and Nigeria as a whole. He was a beacon of hope, a champion of economic empowerment and a steadfast supporter of legislative reforms aimed at improving the lives of all Nigerians.”

Expressing his condolences, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, said: “Senator Ifeanyi Ubah was a dedicated and passionate legislator whose contributions left an indelible mark on our country. His dedication to his constituents and his work in the Senate were exemplary. He will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.

“The Nigerian Senate extends our deepest condolences to the family, friends and constituents of Senator Ubah. We also extend our sincere condolences to the government and people of Anambra State. We pray that they find strength and solace in the legacy of service and dedication he leaves behind. His memory will remain in our hearts forever and his contributions to the progress of our country will continue to inspire us all.”
