The search for the next Bishop of Worcester has begun

The scouting for the next Bishop of Worcester has begun following the announcement of Bishop John’s resignation in September.

A survey has been launched to determine the skills, experience and qualities required by the new bishop, in order to find out what residents think should be included in the criteria.

The Bishop of Worcester is in charge of 270 Anglican churches in Worcestershire and the Dudley borough, providing pastoral care for clergy and lay leaders.

The Bishop of Dudley, Martin Gorick, will become acting diocesan bishop in the interim, for a period of at least one year.

He said: “This is an important and exciting time to be in the Diocese of Worcester as we look for a new Bishop to lead our diocese into the future.

“We really want you to join the conversation, to let us know what you value about the church, what you want it to look like in the future, and what skills, gifts and experiences you think are needed for the bishop who will lead us there.”
