Three PDP lawmakers and supporters leave for APC in Kebbi

Three of the four members of the House of Representatives elected on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kebbi State have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) along with their supporters.

While announcing their defection during the APC flag-raising campaign for the Koko Besse Local Government Area of ​​the state, the Speaker of the state House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Usman Muhammad Yankwai said the three lawmakers agreed to defection to the APC because of the capable leadership and performance of Governor Nasir Idris.

He noted that the three decampees are from Arugungu, Bunza and Yauri constituencies, according to a press release made available to Saturday Telegraph by the Governor’s Press Secretary, Ahmed Idris.

“It is a testament to the resolve of the members of the assembly to support the mission and vision of Governor Idris for the development and progress of Kebbi and its people,” the speaker said.

While receiving the decampees and their supporters at the campaign rally, the state chairman of APC, Alhaji Abubakar Kana Zuru assured them of the party’s support and honesty. He said Governor Idris’ resolve to develop the state within a year was aimed at transforming the lives of the people of Kebbi State.

In his address, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning and former Governor of the state, Senator Atiku Bagudu, expressed satisfaction with the achievements of the present administration under Governor Idris in the past one year.

“The only thing we can do to repay him is to support the party’s policies and programs,” he said.

Also Saidu Usman Dakingari, a former governor and Director General of the party’s campaign committee for the last governorship election in the state, urged voters to come out en masse to vote for APC in the local government elections. He also appreciated the efforts of the governor to benefit the people of Kebbi State from democracy.

Former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, said he was excited by the developments recorded in the state under the APC-led administration. “Let us unite and support him for the progress and development of our state and its people,” he said.

Speaking at the campaign rally, Governor Idris thanked the party supporters and the people of the state for the support they are giving his administration.

He said: “I am overwhelmed by the huge crowd at this campaign rally. I want you to vote for the APC in the local elections.

“I have assured you of my government’s commitment to promoting the economic development of the state and the unity of its people,” he said.
