Osun legislator trains and empowers 200 women in entrepreneurship

In a major step towards empowering young women in Obokun constituency, the Adewumi Adeyemi Foundation, in partnership with the Pan-Atlantic University Enterprise Development Centre (EDC), has launched the first phase of a comprehensive entrepreneurship training programme.

The initiative, which launched this week, aims to equip participants with essential entrepreneurial knowledge and skills to promote economic self-reliance and sustainable development.

In the first phase of the program, 200 young women were selected from a large pool of candidates to participate in an intensive two-day training session.

The training is designed to provide practical knowledge and skills necessary for successful entrepreneurship, reflecting a commitment to the belief that true empowerment begins with education and skills acquisition.

The Founder of the Adewumi Adeyemi Foundation, Mr. Adewumi Adeyemi, also known as Irekandu, a member of the Osun State House of Assembly representing Obokun Constituency, indicated that he is committed to creating an environment that supports education, innovation and sustainable development.

“Education is key and knowledge is vital. This initiative goes beyond politics; it is about making a lasting impact on the community,” he said.

The feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many enthusiastic about the knowledge and skills they had gained.

“This training programme is the first step in a broader empowerment strategy. We received about a thousand applications from across the constituency, and although 200 young women were selected for this phase, the programme will continue in successive batches of 200 participants each,” Adeyemi explained.

He also thanked the EDC for their invaluable cooperation and support, emphasizing the long-term benefits of the program.
