Blue Water: Blue Water Problem in Peeragarhi Village | Delhi News

New Delhi: Following reports of blue foamy water being supplied to some houses in Peeragarhi village on the outskirts of Delhi, water minister Atishi on Saturday directed chief secretary Naresh Kumar to hold a meeting with senior officials and take action against those violating pollution norms. The water minister also directed the CS to submit a detailed report by July 29. For nearly 15 days, residents of Peeragarhi village have been complaining of polluted water from their taps and have blamed chemical and denim factories in the vicinity of their village for the ordeal. A video of blue water and foam filling a bucket in the bathroom of a house went viral earlier this week, prompting the government to take action. In a letter to the chief secretary, Atishi said the issue could be just a “tint of a larger underlying problem”. “I have come to know through a video on social media that some residents of Peeragarhi have received clear blue foaming water. This is a very shocking incident and requires urgent intervention. This could be just the tip of a larger underlying problem and could have very serious consequences in future. This needs to be addressed immediately,” Atishi said in her letter. “The Chief Secretary is therefore directed to convene an emergency meeting of all senior officials of the departments concerned and resolve the issue at the earliest… take immediate action against all surrounding polluting units violating pollution norms,” she further wrote, asking CS to send her a detailed report by 5 pm on July 29. Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said several parts of the national capital had been experiencing polluted water supply in the past few days. “Not just Peeragarhi, the Delhi government should look into the complaints of sewage-laced and polluted water supply across Delhi. We are aware of such cases being reported from eastern, southeastern, southwestern and northwestern parts of Delhi,” Kapoor said.
