Prez Murmu appoints governors in various states, accepts resignation of Banwari Lal Purohit

President Droupadi Murmu has accepted the resignation of Banwarilal Purohit as Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh. The President has also appointed Governors for various states in the country.

Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Assam, has been appointed Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh.

In addition, Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde has been appointed Governor of Rajasthan, Jishnu Dev Varma Governor of Telangana, Om Prakash Mathur Governor of Sikkim and Santosh Kumar Gangwar Governor of Jharkhand.

The President has appointed Ramen Deka as Governor of Chhattisgarh and CH Vijayashankar as Governor of Meghalaya.

CP Radhakrishnan, Governor of Jharkhand with additional charge of Telangana, appointed Governor of Maharashtra.

Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Governor of Sikkim, has been appointed Governor of Assam and has also been given the additional charge of Governor of Manipur.

“The above appointments will be effective from the date they assume their respective positions,” an official press release said.
