Three days in July reserved for public input in the Tiny admin center

Tiny Township has announced dates for three public information sessions in July regarding its controversial civic center proposal.

During the recent Committee of the Full Commission meeting, Public Works Director Tim Leitch updated the public on the format and locations of the information sessions.

* July 16, 6-8pm – Virtual Meeting
* July 23, 10am-12pm – Virtual Meeting
* July 31, 6:00-8:00 pm – Hybrid meeting, held at 130 Balm Beach Road West

Questions about the Tiny Township civic center can be answered online during the two virtual meetings. Leitch confirmed that the hybrid meeting in the council chamber would be an open meeting.

Leitch added that the council’s communications department would provide further details.

“We look forward to hosting these sessions and public input in our public spaces at our new City Hall,” Leitch said.

Tiny Township’s proposed civic center came under fire last year when protesting residents started a petition against the project, arguing that the timing was not right to use their tax dollars to build a new, multimillion-dollar municipal building while the current building was still in use.

The municipality argued that the 57-year-old building no longer met the needs of the growing population. Several reasons were given as to why the current facility does not meet modern infrastructure requirements for health and safety practices.

A project overview and associated documents are available on the Tiny Township Administrative Center page of the municipality’s website.

Archives of council meetings can be viewed on the municipality’s YouTube channel.
