Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem – A condolence message from the ACOHL regarding the tragedy of Majdal Shams

Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem – A condolence message from the ACOHL regarding the tragedy of Majdal Shams

12 children were tragically killed in an attack on a playground in Majdal Shams on Saturday. These innocent lives, full of hopes and dreams, were taken in an unspeakable act of violence that has caused deep sorrow for all who hold life sacred.

We extend our sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims and to the entire Druze community in the Holy Land. The loss of these children is an unspeakable tragedy that has deeply affected us all. Words cannot fully express the sorrow and outrage we feel at such a horrific act of violence.

In this time of mourning, we must honor their memories by renewing our commitment to peace and rejecting all forms of violence. The cycle of violence must end. We urge all parties to seek understanding and mutual respect, for the future of our children and communities depends on it. Enough of this violence, hatred and contempt!

We urge all parties to abandon the path of conflict and weapons and seek understanding and mutual respect. The future of children and the well-being of our communities depend on our ability to transcend hatred and embrace the principles of compassion and coexistence. Nothing will be solved by the evil of weapons and war! Let us not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good! (Epistle of St. Paul to Romans 12:21).

May the Lord grant comfort and strength to the families of the victims, and may their memories remind us how precious life is and how urgently we need peace.
