Flash flood warnings issued in metro Atlanta Sunday evening

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Multiple flooding occurred in and around metro Atlanta Sunday evening.

Warnings were issued for Barrow, Clarke, Oconee and Walton counties until 10:45 p.m., for Meriwether County until 11:15 p.m., for Coweta County until 11:30 p.m., and for Clayton, Fayette and Fulton until 2:45 a.m. Monday.

Downed power lines have closed SR 15 at Elder Mill Road near Athens and SR 109 is closed at McLaughlin Road in Meriwether County due to flooding, according to the Gergia Department of Transportation.

The weather also ensured that the Atlanta Open got off to a wet start, with rain delaying play until at least 10:30 p.m.
