Flights at Beirut airport halted amid mounting Israeli threat

ISTANBUL, July 29 (Bernama-Anadolu) – All departures and arrivals at Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport have been delayed or canceled due to the threat of a possible Israeli attack on Lebanon.

Flights have been suspended from the evening of July 28, Anadolu Agency (AA) reported, citing departure and arrival information boards at the airport on Sunday.

Flight information on the airport’s website shows that all flights to and from Beirut to various destinations around the world are marked as ‘cancelled’ or ‘delayed’.

Cancellations and delays are expected to continue until Monday morning.

Lebanon’s national carrier, Middle East Airlines (MEA), had previously announced that some flights departing from Beirut would be postponed until the morning of July 29.

MEA is the national airline of Lebanon, headquartered in Beirut and operating flights to various destinations in the Middle East, Europe, Africa and beyond.

Earlier, the United States (US), United Kingdom (UK) and France issued security warnings to their citizens, advising them not to travel to Lebanon, citing possible air traffic disruptions due to heightened tensions in the region.

Tensions in the region rose after the Israeli military presented scenarios to the government on Sunday for a possible attack on the Lebanese group Hezbollah following a rocket attack that killed 12 people in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, international media reported.
