Crack down on criminal gangs, EALA lawmaker Dekow urges police

The former senatorial nominee called on local authorities, law enforcement agencies and community leaders to take swift and decisive action against the threat.

He said that more intensive patrols, community involvement and stricter measures against perpetrators will improve the situation.

She asked residents to report any suspicious activity, look out for each other and remain vigilant.

“Let’s say enough is enough. We demand action. We deserve peace. There is no doubt about that. It cannot be that in this day and age we have individuals who want to kill and terrorize individuals who are just going about their business,” she said.

Last Friday, Galbet Ward MCA Abubakar Khalif wrote a letter to security commanders calling for tighter security due to the increase in crime in the area.

“Criminal gangs armed with primitive weapons including swords and now guns have been targeting business premises and individuals by stealing phones in various areas on the outskirts of Garissa town,” the letter reads in part.
