Riyadh Municipality integrates robots and smart technologies in rainwater drainage network maintenance

Riyadh Municipality has announced that it will deploy specialized robots and smart technologies for regular operations to inspect rainwater drainage networks and their components for proactive maintenance.

The robots can navigate through water and different surfaces, measure and analyze networks, and thus contribute to fast and effective decision-making.

The robots work by capturing three-dimensional, 360-degree images of the networks and converting the results into data via artificial intelligence (AI). This maximizes the use of technology to accelerate the municipality’s tasks, ensure the readiness of stormwater drainage networks and develop proactive maintenance plans.

Riyadh Municipality continues to monitor the regular, preventive and planned maintenance of all components of the stormwater drainage networks in Riyadh. This is intended to ensure the safety and readiness of the components of the networks and to address network failures and related issues using modern technologies that help identify and resolve issues.
