China’s domestic tourism grows in the first half of the year

On Friday, the ministry released figures showing that domestic tourist attractions received about 2.73 billion visits in the first half of the year, up 14.3 percent from a year earlier.

About 2.09 billion of these tourist visits were made by urban residents and 638 million by rural residents.

According to the ministry, domestic travelers spent 2.73 trillion yuan ($376.4 billion) on tourism activities, up 19 percent year-on-year in the first six months of the year.
