Marshall receives delegation from North Carolina

Construction is moving forward on Marshall’s new maintenance, repair, overhaul (MRO) and engineering facility at Piedmont Triad International Airport in Guilford County.

The tour of Cambridge highlighted several of Marshall’s aerospace activities, including MRO work on the U.S. Marine Corps’ fleet of KC-130J transport aircraft and heavy engineering projects such as removing and replacing aircraft center wing boxes.

Chris Dare, Director of Marshall MRO Support Services, said: “It was incredibly satisfying to demonstrate our capabilities on the ground to a number of individuals whose support and enthusiasm made it so easy to choose North Carolina as the home base for our new US facility.

“Our Cambridge and Greensboro facilities may be thousands of miles apart, but they share a common commitment to providing mission-critical support to our customers. I am confident that the technical knowledge, expertise and MRO capabilities we have developed in the UK will grow and flourish in North Carolina’s thriving aerospace ecosystem.”

In addition to Commerce Secretary Machelle Baker Sanders, the delegation included Christopher Chung, CEO of the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, and Brent Christensen, president and CEO of the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce.

“This visit provided an in-depth look at the valuable work Marshall provides for the U.S. Marine Corps and more than a dozen other customers around the world,” Sanders said.

“As the new facility moves closer to opening, Marshall is a perfect example of how the blossoming relationship between UK and North Carolina will continue to drive skilled employment and economic activity for our state.”

Earlier last week, members of Marshall’s senior leadership team also met the North Carolina delegation at a series of events hosted by the UK Department of Economy and Trade during the Farnborough International Airshow.

This engagement marks two years of progress since the July 2022 meeting

signing of a groundbreaking economic agreement between North Carolina and the United Kingdom to strengthen economic ties and advance the transition to a clean energy economy.

Earlier this month, CNBC ranked North Carolina in the top three states for the best business in the U.S. for the fifth year in a row.
