Russians focus military efforts on five towns and villages north of Kharkiv region

UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, July 29 — Russian troops have concentrated their military efforts in the Kharkov region, near Lyptsi, Hlyboke, Morokhovets, Krasne and Vovchansk, Vitalii Sarantsev, a spokesman for the “Kharkiv” force group, told Ukrainian television.

Russia began its new offensive in the north and northeast of the Kharkiv region in May, but Ukrainian forces have since stabilized the front line in this area. Heavy fighting is now taking place in and around Vovchansk (three miles from the border, 46 miles from Kharkiv) and near Lyptsi (six miles from the border, 12 miles from Kharkiv.)

Vitalii Sarantsev stressed that these are the cities and villages that the Russians attack most often. He called the situation in Vovchansk “quite difficult”. However, according to him, the Ukrainian army also responds to Russian attacks

“If the enemy uses glide bombs (KABs), we use highly accurate technologies of artificial intelligence, long-range surveillance and electronic warfare to destroy the enemy’s drones. With the help of remote reconnaissance, we can detect the enemy’s movements in advance and destroy their manpower,” Sarantsev said.

According to him, the Russians are constantly trying to change their tactics. They are also looking for new ways to bypass the Defense Forces’ positions, with frontal attacks and small assault groups.

The press service of the “Kharkiv” group of forces reported that the Russian army has attacked Hlyboke and Vovchansk in the direction of Kharkiv and has increased aerial reconnaissance operations using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over the past day. They are also strengthening their security posts near Sotnytskyi Kozachok.

According to the military, the Russians are preparing for an offensive near Hlyboke with assault groups. They are replenishing supplies, trying to replace units that have suffered losses and examining possible routes of advance. Russian soldiers are also rotating units near the village of Hatyshche.
