Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the front line in Kharkiv on July 29 to honor Special Operations Forces (SOF) soldiers on their professional day and present them with state awards.

The head of state announced this on the Internet.

“Towards Kharkov. Forward command post of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Vovchansk area. It is an honor to be here today and congratulate our SOF fighters on their professional day and recognize them with state awards.”

He stressed that SOF fighters operate in the most intensive areas of the front, where they successfully conduct special operations and accomplish their missions.

“I want to thank you for your heroic operations, both behind enemy lines and in the defense and liberation of our territories, cities and villages, starting with the defense of Donetsk airport in 2014, then Hostomel, the Kherson region and the operation in the Kharkiv region. Take care of yourselves. Today you are on this front, which is probably one of the toughest. The whole country is counting on you and we will definitely win,” Zelenskyy told the fighters.

He also recognized the soldiers with state awards, including two Heroes of Ukraine. In addition, the president awarded the 142nd SOF training center the honorary title “Named after General-Cornet Vsevolod Zmiienko.”
