Sheila Hill, 49, was arrested for resisting arrest while intoxicated at Nashville International Airport on July 28. Officers were called to the scene of a woman who appeared to be in distress. Upon arrival, they found Hill intoxicated, with red, watery eyes, slurred speech, and an odor of alcohol on her breath. Although officers believed Hill was able to continue with her plans because she did not need their assistance, airport officials informed them that she had been denied boarding because she appeared to be heavily intoxicated. Hill, who now had no scheduled flight that day, was asked to leave the secured area of the airport. As Hill and officers walked toward the exit, she became aggressive, using foul language, making repeated statements, and loudly asking the officers questions.

Hill then began yelling, disrupting the operations of nearby businesses. The officers informed Hill that she was being arrested for public intoxication. Despite this, Hill began to resist, but officers were eventually able to handcuff her. Hill continued to resist by dropping her weight, kicking at the officers, scratching them with her nails, and attempting to pull away. Throughout the confrontation, Hill refused to walk, get down, or get into any patrol vehicles. When she was placed in the officer’s patrol vehicle, she began kicking the windows and slamming her head into the vehicle. Hill was subsequently arrested and later charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.
