Public schools in Davao City to be prioritized for safety

The Public Safety and Security Service has assigned additional citizen security units to public schools to reinforce the internal citizen security units already stationed there.

Angel Sumagaysay, head of the PSSO, said public schools typically have a larger population than private institutions and therefore need a more robust security system.

“We have enough public schools and we really need to guide the children,” Sumagaysay said.

Sumagaysay stressed the importance of protecting students in school, not only from criminals, but especially from traffic accidents.

By monitoring vehicles and setting speed limits, the city can better manage traffic flow and reduce the risk of accidents, making the environment safer for students.

Sumagaysay named several schools as priority areas for safety, including Magallanes Elementary School, Santa Ana National High School, Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School (DRANS), Mabini, Bayabas Toril, Doña Carmen and Bunawan due to their high student populations.
