Progressive group Continue is endorsing five Democrats in close races for the California House of Representatives, the organization told The Sacramento Bee exclusively.

The races — which include two seats in the Central Valley and three in Southern California — could help determine who wins control of the House.

The list of recommendations for California announced today includes:

  • Adam Graywho is in a rematch with the incumbent Republican Party representative. John Duarte in CA-13

  • Rudy Salasalso in a rematch with Republican Congressman. David Valadao in CA-22

  • Will Rollinswho is challenging the long-serving deputy for the second time. Ken Calvert in CA-41

  • Derek Tranwho is running against GOP Rep. Michelle Steele in CA-45

  • Dave Min, who is trying to fend off the Republicans Scott Baugh and Rep. preserved. Katie Porter‘s open CA-47 chair blue

President Joe Biden reports Donald Trump in four of the five districts – the exception was CA-41 – in 2020.

“Our members supported these candidates because they will prioritize an agenda that puts the people of California first and strengthens our communities, while ensuring our rights and freedoms are not eroded at the hands of the MAGA-run Republican Party,” said MoveOn Political Action spokesperson. Britt Jacobovich“MoveOn members know how important it is to vote to keep control of the U.S. House of Representatives away from MAGA extremists who plan to take our country backwards through their Project 2025 agenda.”

The districts are part of MoveOn’s $32 million effort to win the presidency and other federal races for Democrats. The left-wing group plans to strategically target young voters in swing states and House races to vote in the November election.

Republicans are campaigning aggressively and earlier this month criticized several Democratic candidates for their criminal activities.

Democrats need a net gain of four House seats in November to take control of the chamber. The nonpartisan Cook Political Report says Duarte, Valadao and Calvert’s seats are tossups, while Steel’s race leans Republican. It says Porter’s seat leans Democratic.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

“Past failed policies have not reduced or addressed homelessness. We cannot arrest our way out of poverty and homelessness. Wealth inequality and chronic homelessness are a policy failure — as the wealthiest state in the world, California has a moral obligation to provide shelter or housing before it wipes out our neighbors.”

– Jane Kim, executive director of the Working Families Party of California, in a statement responding to Gov. Gavin Newsom’s order for state officials to begin clearing homeless camps.
