Uno Pizzeria to close near shopping center slated for redevelopment

A restaurant has closed near the shopping centre, where some of the commercial space is to be replaced by housing.

MANASSAS, VA — A Manassas restaurant has closed in an area that was expected to undergo a transformation with redevelopment.

Uno Pizzeria & Grill at 10701 Bulloch Drive in Manassas announced its closure with a sign outside. The Manassas location is no longer listed as a location on Uno Pizzeria & Grill’s website.

“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we must close our doors as our lease has expired,” the sign read. “It has been an honor and a pleasure to serve you for the past 25 years.”

Uno Pizzeria specializes in Chicago-style deep dish pizza and other menu items. The chain encouraged customers to visit other locations, including Merrifield at 3058 Gate House Plaza, Falls Church, VA, and Kingstowne at 5935 Kingstowne Town Center, Alexandria, VA.

The Uno Pizzeria & Grill was located next to the Parkridge Center, a shopping center with plans for redevelopment. Willard Retail had received approval for a rezoning in late 2023 that would allow for the construction of up to 363 townhomes and stacked apartments, the Washington Business Journal reported. In July, Willard Retail sold part of the land containing the Regal movie theater and part of a parking lot to developer Hines. The developer plans to build 162 residential units.

Remaining residential units could be built on a portion of the remaining Parkridge Center. The property owner could sell a portion of the shopping center east of Old Navy for redevelopment in the coming years.
